Remote Desert Airstrip

Remote Desert Airstrip

Description: Surrounded by sand and native desert flora, this 1,000 foot long unpaved airstrip owned by Mission Springs Water District was affectionately known in the 1950’s as Pat Boone International, since he and other notables used it to land their private planes. Today the dirt runway affords a variety of photo and filming opportunities for small airplane scenes or car displays requiring a solitary desert atmosphere. A variety of background views may be chosen from majestic distant mountains, far off townscape, whirling windmills or natural, untamed desert.
