Summer is officially here and you know what that means! Summer Blockbusters! And what goes more hand-in-hand with popcorn movies than action films chock-full of fists to the face and ridiculous explosions! Today, we highlight some great Wrapal locations for your next blockbuster action scene! So get those keyboards clackin’ and those guns brrrattting and let’s go!
We’ll start off the list with a location where a sanctioned fight can take place. Were you inspired watching Rocky and Creed? Maybe you want to make a film about a downtrodden hero who feels like the only out is in the ring? Well, this Boxing Gym location has all the trappings a gym needs such as punching bags, lifting machines, and most importantly, a ring! So finish up those scripts, lace up your wallets and get ready to RKO this production!
Next up we go a little classier. Think backroom illegal gambling mafia deals around a game of Texas Hold’em; think Casino Royale. This casino setting has that classic “un-official” setting that a backroom show-down needs. It might not have rows of slot machines or craps tables, but what it lacks in scale it makes up for in intimacy, and intimacy breeds drama. So whether you need a Killing Them Softly style gambling bust or a stand-off of wits at the poker table, remember this location.
Maybe you recently saw John Wick and you really enjoyed the captivating scenes of Keanu running roughshod through legions of suited-up goons in a neon-soaked nightclub, or you saw Tom Cruise in Collateral and thought “wow that nightclub is a great setting!” Well you’re in luck! The Ohm Nightclub is a fully operational nightclub with space for 1,000 guests, so it can easily accommodate shoots of any size, along with providing various settings within the location to provide some diversity to your settings of base-pumping action.
Places with lots of people usually add to the drama of an action scene. When everyone is running around panicked as the hero and villain circle each other like territorial animals, the tension is running high. So where better to set a show-down than The Grand Central Market? With stocked vendors, displays, and seating areas, this location is just a few extras and your main characters away from a tense chase scene, a fist fight full of flying fruits, or maybe a firefight between displays!
Who could forget the church fight-scene in Kingsmen? Honestly, that scene alone is what inspired us posting this location. Sometimes the best locations are the ones that provide the most contrast to the action of the scene, and what better setting to film action than a church? This location comes with a full hair and makeup trailer, golf carts, and three police cars for use in filming, what more could you want?! The owners are experienced with filmmakers and movie shoots, so there is very little you could throw at them that they wouldn’t be able to accommodate…just avoid blowing the thing up, will ya?
Well thats it! We hope these locations get your creative juices flowing! And remember, when writing action, keep these famous guiding principles that we all know in mind: “If you liked this article there are many more like it on our blog.” and most importantly, “Use Wrapal.com for all your location scouting needs!”
